MULTICULTURAL TRADITIONS
We’re so excited to integrate bits and pieces of who we are into every aspect of our wedding. While we’re leaving many of these details a surprise, we wanted to let you know about some traditions that may be new.
A Filipino tradition:
CORD & VEIL
A ceremonial lace veil is draped over the bride’s and groom’s shoulders to symbolize being clothed as one.
Then a ceremonial cord, called a yugal, is wrapped around the couple in a figure-eight pattern, which symbolizes their eternal bond.
BREAKING OF GLASS
As the ceremony comes to an end, the bride and groom is invited to step on a glass under a cloth to shatter it.
It demonstrates that marriage holds sorrow as well as joy and is a representation of the commitment to stand by one another even in hard times.

A Filipino and Catholic tradition:
MONEY DANCE
The Sayaw ng Pera, or money dance, represents wishing the couple financial abundance. Guests are invited to dance with the bride and groom and pin dollar bills on them—some families get really creative with money garlands, crowns, and bracelets! We will also have an option to pin well wishes in addition to, or instead of, cash.
